Office365 Migration FAQ

  • Can I get the new email client installed on my workstation?

The web-based Office365 is our preferred client to the collin.edu email system. We do install the Outlook client on workstations and laptops but they are on a "case by case" basis.
  • Where's all of my previous emails?

First, click the "More" link under Folders:

You open subfolders by clicking the grey triangle next to the folder name:

  • How do I log into Office365?

The login page for Office365 is https://portal.office.com. Use your Collin email address (@collin.edu) and the password you created on your first login to Office365.

  • How do I change my password?

You can reset your Office365 password at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com. Note that you may be provided an option to reset via an office phone call, but this option will not be successful if your phone number is accessed via a calling tree.

  • How do I create my email signature in Office365?

Click the gear icon in the upper right, then "Options", then "Email signature" in the menu on the left.
  • The BCC field in a new email is missing...

For a single email: Click the "..." link, then "Show Bcc".

For all emails: Click the gear icon in the upper right, then "Options", then "Message format", then "Always show Bcc"
  • How do I include an attachment / insert an image?

    1) You can drag-and-drop files into the message body area to add as an attachment, or

    2) Click the "Insert" link at the top of email, or

    3) You can copy-paste images into the message body.
  • How do I use the campus distribution lists in Office365?

The campus distribution lists will be moved to Office365 at a later point in the migration. For now, continue using GroupWise to send emails that require a campus distribution list.

NOTE: Please put the campus distribution lists in the BC: field of your email. Users who are putting the campus distribution lists in the TO: field are finding their emails corrupted or undeliverable to Office365 recipients.
  • I can't find my own personal groups / distribution lists in Office365.

Unfortunately, personal groups and distribution lists do not migrate over to Office365, and will need to be recreated.
